Within the world, there are several major issues with certain impacts on the society, be that as if political problems, social problems, or even climate issues (Iberdrola, 2021). Those problems are perpetuated and nearly impossible to solve. On this day’s topic, our team addresses the biggest and hardest issue within Malaysia and it is homelessness. Homelessness always remains one of the prominent issues of our time and there are several causes that even the people who experience cannot solve. The complexities and reasons are found difficult to be comprehended as it is a mix of social, economic and personal factors that makes it difficult to be solved with a single instant action. Therefore, Our team proposes a project with detailed plans to address this issue called “ The Project Safe Haven”, a program that is specifically designed to assist the multiple needs of the homeless community within Malaysia.

Deeper Understanding of the Problem:

Delving into the homelessness issues, our team needs to differentiate and accept diverse causes. For such instances, imbalance economics, addiction towards something ( mostly drugs ), lack of purchasing house property, and domestic violence which we will elaborate in further. The holistic impact may result in (unmanageable behaviors towards crime action, social isolation, and suicide decisions). The longer the person experiences a homeless environment, the more stress and immorality they will gain.

What is The Project Safe Haven?

Every person needs a shelter or place to feels that they are protected from harm or danger and Safe Haven is all about protection. Our team’s objective is to prevent or reduce homelessness through a dedicated approach. While our dedication will remain as a long-term sustainability project, there are 4 pillars to our objectives which are: Essential Services, Permanent Housing, Temporary Shelters, and Employment.

  1. Essential Services:

Homeless people face various difficulties, may it be the struggle to eat hygienic food, drug issues, and mental health. Our team has proposed a program and also established a head office of the PSH within the building of OPM Group. Counselors and therapists will be provided to observe their current mental health and lectures. Administrators also will be provided and assigned to provide proper and adequate terms to obtain identification and legal issues that might be the limitation of securing housing and payment.

  1. Temporary Shelters:

In general, most homeless persons are living and sleeping on the corner with their beloved animals or carrying their vehicles like bicycles on the sidewalks of the streets and popular roads like Bukit Bintang Street. Our team has already provided enough capital to provide temporary housing and it will be located in high homeless populations within Malaysia ( Cheras and Chowkit is the highest percentage of our housing project ). We prioritize comfort and worth living for homeless people since they need proper rest and a hygienic environment.

  1. Employment Support

This particular objective may be the most difficult to achieve in our project, however, employment is a critical and crucial step for homeless people to achieve their freedom to live as a citizens. Our team will create partnerships with multiple local businesses ( emphasizing the brick-and-mortar store and FnB). This program not only provides technical support, but furthermore its provides education and skills on how they will conduct an interview, application, and workplace etiquette. Our program will conclude the employment environment in hopes of facilitating tools and education for homeless people to secure a decent job.

  1. Permanent Housing

For the last pillar within the project, permanent housing our ultimate goal is to give a permanent house to homeless people after they achieve our procedures and fulfill their requirement to be a part of society in Malaysia. Multiple organizations, city officials, and the government will be approaching our proposal. This includes pre-facilitated furnitures within the house, reduced rent, and affordable units for each house. This program will likely meet all the needs of homeless people as they pave their way to achieve freedom.

Conclusion:

In conclusion, "The Project Safe Haven" is a comprehensive and compassionate response to the pressing issue of homelessness in Malaysia. By recognizing the complex and interconnected factors contributing to homelessness, the project aims to break the cycle of despair and offer stability and self-sufficiency (Center, 2023). Through the provision of essential services, temporary shelters, employment support, and permanent housing, the project addresses the immediate needs of the homeless while empowering them to rebuild their lives. This multi-faceted approach, encompassing collaboration with various stakeholders, demonstrates a commitment to sustainable solutions that will alleviate the current crisis and prevent future generations from facing the same plight. "The Project Safe Haven" is a hope, demonstrating that we can build a society where everyone has a place to call home through action and dedication.
